I have talked to many patients about this, and most of them laugh, but it’s true! Wearing your wallet in your back pocket not only irritates the muscles of your pelvis, but also creates an uneven platform for your pelvis/lower back and torso. I used to wear my wallet in my back pocket until learning of the dangers, so now I use a “front pocket wallet.” This may surprise some of you, but a front pocket wallet is a wallet that is slightly smaller than a typical wallet, that fits in your front pocket. Genius, right? By doing this, my spine and pelvis/lower back can remain in a neutral state, and it isn’t bothering the muscles of my pelvis and lower back. Check out the picture below to see a nice description of what wearing a wallet in your back pocket can do to your pelvis and spine. Ladies, this is a great gift idea for your significant other for Valentines Day (hint, hint)!
